here are a few new designs for the adults. all made from recycled t-shirts. We should have these ready to go by May, so stay tuned! A cute new dress with pockets and cowel neck line. You can wear this one on its own or layered up for when it is cold outside.

The new drop down collar snap shirt has a similar neckline as the kiddo snap down dress...but made for the adults. A fitted waist band and arm cuffs finish off the look for a fun and flirty style.

I made the following coat rack for my daughter's room. I love metal and industrial looks, she likes pink. Pretty simple project. Also found a mirror that had been sprayed with the same pink. 2 yr olds love to look at themselves!

Old is new - Designer finds future in recycled clothes

Some people are consumed by their craft. Then there’s Carol Lynn Lapotka of REcreate Designs, who sees her life in terms of skirts.
“If my husband and I want to stay in a hotel when we drive home for Christmas, that’s about two skirts,” she says. “And I have to sell four skirts to pay for the groceries this week.”
The Missoula clothing designer reads books like Malcom Gladwell’s The Tipping Point and William McDonough and Michael Braungart’s Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things to better understand the business and environmental ins-and-outs of her skirt-making venture. It’s a fairly serious approach to an operation that basically recycles old T-shirts and sweatshirts and makes them into hip couture.
But in a time when economic woes have unraveled other businesses, Lapotka is thriving—so much so that she quit her day job at a graphic design company this past August and now brings home the bacon for her and her husband, James, who is in law school.
Since 2005 when she first started REcreate, Lapotka, 31, has doubled her sales. Read more on the Independent website

Talk about a Northside revival. The Zootown Arts Community Center (ZACC)—with artist/teacher Hanna Hannan at the helm— houses artist studios, a gallery, community workroom and a space where artists sell their wares. Since officially opening in September, ZACC’s already held numerous shows—involving theater, film, poetry, music and art exhibits—among other DIY and kid-centric events.
