A BRIEF HISTORY

REcreate Designs was founded in Madison, WI. After years of making unique, handmade holiday gifts for friends and family, founder Carol Lynn Lapotka began producing one-of-a-kind creations for local craft and street fairs. Carol Lynn studied art, design, and environmental studies at Edgewood College, and in 2005 she transformed these interests into a business.

After she moved to Missoula, Montana, Carol Lynn’s business thrived and became a full-time venture. Her popular “tee skirts,” made from upcycled t-shirts, can be found at numerous boutiques in both Montana and Wisconsin. REcreate Designs now operates just north of Missoula at the foot of the Mission Mountains, and is constantly expanding its selection of trash-to-treasure products. The recently launched Wee Cycle kiddo line features brightly colored, whimsical pieces, traditional items, and too-darn-cute styles. Raw materials are sourced from thrift and second-hand outlets, reclaimed, and repurposed into the products presented on this site.

MADE IN MONTANA

REcreate Designs is a small business with big dreams. We are proud to be 100% made in Montana by people who care. We employ local folks and purchase a majority of our raw materials from area thrift and second-hand stores. REcreate Designs is a member of the Sustainable Business Council and Missoula Downtown Association, and a presenter of the summer and holiday MADE fairs.
